It's baseball season again. For those of you who ask I am still very involved in the game. I work both on the Executive Staff of the Twins and as a special advisor for Commissioner Bud Selig. In my capacity with the Twins I have worked along side President Dave St. Peter assisting him in his efforts to bring a new stadium to the city of Minneapolis. We were rewarded for those efforts when we broke ground last September for a new downtown venue that will open in 2010. My work for Major League baseball takes me all over the world, doing what I love best, teaching youngsters the game. My travels have taken me to Puerto Rico, Italy, Australia and there is even talk that I will go to China this year. Additionally I spend as much time as possible at the MLB Academy in Compton helping not only to improve those young men as players but direct their lives. As great as baseball's history has been, it's future is just as bright.
"Some guys, I put myself in this category, have to snort and fume to get everything going, Carew doesn't, he's so smooth, he seems to be doing it without even trying."
"Watching Rod Carew bat is like watching Bulova make a watch, DeBeers cut a diamond....Rod Carew doesn't make hits, he composes them."
